Lake ERMISTU

Lake Ermistu is the largest in Pärnu County and the ninth largest in Estonia. Lake Ermistu is 4 km long and 1.72 km wide, with an area of up to 480 ha. The depth of the lake in a large part of the water area does not exceed 0.5-1.2 m (maximum 3.6 m in the water level).
Ermistu is one of the lakes rich in fish. Bream and tench are some of the best in Estonia. Pike 10-12 kg are also not rare. Common are perch, crucian carp, roach, redeye and silver bream.
On the western shore of Lake Ermistu there are bogs that have formed during the growth of the lagoon. There is a transitional Finnish forest, a bog pine forest and reedbeds near the lake.

IN ERMISTU YOU CAN MEET

Birds are rich in species. You can meet the following birds: greylag goose, eurasian crane, common tern, mallard and common teal, tufted duck, goosander and red-breasted merganser, mute swan, sedge warbler and great reed-warbler, reed bunting.

Among the fauna inhabiting the lake, otter ja American minkshould be mentioned; in recent years, beavers have been operating on the southern shore of the lake.

ERMISTU PELOID

Ermistu lake mud is 100% natural, ecologically clean and has a high level of biological activity. The mud layer of the lake is on average 2–3 metres thick, at maximum 4.6 metres. It is rich in trace elements, organic acids and other bioactive substances.

For example, mud can be used as a fertiliser – sapropel fertilisers significantly increase the yield of cereals, vegetables and fruit.

In cosmetic procedures:
– Opens and cleanses pores, removes dead skin cells
– Revitalises and restores skin, slows down the aging of the skin
– Moisturises dry and delicate facial skin

Recommendations for sauna procedures:
– After bathing in hot steam in the sauna, the mud mask is applied in a thin layer to the desired body part
– The procedure is done in temperatures of up to 60 °C for up to 20 minutes, depending on how you feel
– Sauna air must be humid
– The skin is cleansed with warm water
